Remove EXIF Data
See and strip GPS location and camera data from photos.
About this tool
Remove EXIF Data shows the hidden details stored inside a photo, such as the camera model, the date it was taken and whether it holds the GPS location where you took it. Then it saves a clean copy with all of that removed, so you can post or send the picture safely. Your files are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
How to use Remove EXIF Data
- Choose one or more photos.
- Check the camera, date and GPS details that were found.
- Download clean copies with the metadata removed.
Questions people ask
What is EXIF data?
Extra information a camera or phone writes into a photo file: make and model, lens, exposure, date and time, and often the exact GPS coordinates. Anyone who gets the original file can read it.
How is the data removed?
The picture is redrawn and saved as a new file, which keeps only the pixels. EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and comments are all dropped. Photos stay upright because the rotation is applied before saving.
Do social networks remove GPS for me?
Large platforms such as Instagram and Facebook strip it from public posts, but email, messaging apps that send "as file", cloud links and many forums keep the original file with its location.
