About this tool

PDF Metadata Editor shows the hidden document properties stored inside a PDF and lets you change them. You can also remove every field, including XMP metadata, so a shared file does not reveal who made it or with which app. Your files are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.

How to use PDF Metadata Editor

  1. Choose a PDF to see its current properties.
  2. Edit the fields, or press “Remove all metadata”.
  3. Download the updated copy.

Questions people ask

Why does the title field matter?

Browsers and PDF readers show the Title in the tab or window bar instead of the file name, and search engines may use it as the result heading for PDFs on the web.

What does “Remove all metadata” delete?

It clears the document information dictionary (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer, creation and modification dates) and removes the XMP metadata stream. Page content is not changed.

Can metadata reveal personal details?

Yes. The Author field often holds the account name of the computer that made the file, and the Creator shows which app was used. Clear them before sending files outside your organisation.
