  3. Read your current grade and the final score you need.

Questions people ask

How is a weighted grade calculated?

Weighted grade = sum of (score × weight) ÷ sum of weights. Homework 92% at 20%, quizzes 85% at 20% and a midterm 78% at 30% give (18.4 + 17 + 23.4) ÷ 70 = 84.0%.

What formula finds the score needed on the final?

Needed = (target − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. With a current grade of 84% and a final worth 30%, reaching 85% needs (85 − 84 × 0.7) ÷ 0.3 = 87.3%.

What if my weights do not add up to 100%?

The current grade is based only on the weights you have entered so far, which is how most course trackers show a running grade. If the weights add up to more than 100%, the calculator warns you.
