Convert CSV with headers into a JSON array.

Free Runs in your browser

About this tool

CSV to JSON reads comma, semicolon, tab or pipe separated data and turns each row into a JSON object using the header row as keys. Quoted fields with commas or line breaks are handled correctly.

How to use CSV to JSON

  1. Paste your CSV.
  2. Check the delimiter and header options.
  3. Copy the JSON or download it.

Questions people ask

How is the delimiter detected?

The tool tries comma, semicolon, tab and pipe on the first rows and picks the one that gives the same number of columns on every row.

Are numbers converted?

With “Convert numbers” on, values like 42 or 3.5 become JSON numbers and true/false become booleans. Values with leading zeros, like 007, stay strings.

Can fields contain line breaks?

Yes, if the field is wrapped in double quotes, as spreadsheets do when they export.
