    About this tool

JPG to WebP re-saves your photos in the WebP format, which keeps the same look at a smaller size. Smaller images make pages load faster, which helps visitors on mobile data and improves Core Web Vitals scores. Your files are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.

How to use JPG to WebP

    1. Choose one or more JPG files.
    2. Set the quality (80 to 90 suits most photos).
    3. Download each WebP, or all as a ZIP.

    Questions people ask

How much space does WebP save over JPG?

Google measured WebP files as 25 to 34% smaller than JPG at equal visual quality. Your saving depends on the photo and on how heavily the JPG was already compressed.

Will I lose quality converting JPG to WebP?

Both formats are lossy, so a small amount of detail changes. At quality 85 or higher the difference is very hard to see. Always keep your original JPGs.

Should I keep a JPG fallback on my site?

For very old browsers only. If you want one, use the HTML <picture> element with a WebP source and a JPG fallback image.
