Questions people ask
Will converting to PNG improve the quality?
No. PNG keeps exactly what is in the JPG, including any blocky compression marks already there. It only stops further loss when you edit and save again.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression, so a photo is often 3 to 10 times larger than its JPG. That is normal. Use PNG for editing or when it is required, and JPG for sharing.
Does it make the background transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG has the same solid background. Use the Background Remover tool to cut out the subject.
