About this tool
Background Remover cuts the subject out of a photo and leaves a transparent background, ready for product shots, profile pictures and stickers. You can also put the subject on a plain white or coloured background. The AI model downloads once from the Hugging Face CDN; your photo itself is never sent anywhere. Your files are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.

Questions people ask
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The AI model (MODNet, about 25 MB) is downloaded once from the Hugging Face CDN and then runs inside your browser. The photo never leaves your device, and later visits use the cached model.
What kind of photos work best?
The model is trained on people, so portraits, selfies and half-body shots give the cleanest edges. Objects on a plain background often work too. Busy scenes, glass and fine hair against a similar colour are the hardest cases.
Why does the edge look a little soft or have a halo?
The mask has soft edges so hair looks natural. Move the Edge clean-up slider up to cut away faint pixels around the subject. If you need a white background for a passport or shop listing, choose Solid colour and white.
