What size should a YouTube thumbnail be?

For long-form videos, YouTube recommends 3840 × 2160 pixels at 16:9, with a minimum width of 640 pixels. Use JPG or PNG and check the upload limit for your device.

How much of the title shows?

Feeds show up to 2 lines, which is about 60 to 70 characters on desktop. Put the important words first.

How small does the thumbnail get?

In the sidebar it is about 168 pixels wide, and on phones it can be smaller. Use big text with 3 to 5 words and strong contrast.
