What size is a YouTube banner?

Upload 2560 × 1440 pixels. The minimum is 2048 × 1152 and the file must be 6 MB or smaller.

What is the safe area?

The centre 1546 × 423 pixels shows on every device. Desktop shows up to 2560 × 423, tablets about 1855 × 423, and only TVs show the full image.

What happens if my image is not 16:9?

It is scaled to fill 2560 × 1440 and the extra is cropped. This checker shows that crop so you can see what is lost.
