About this tool
Volume Booster raises or lowers the loudness of a recording that is too quiet or too loud. Set the change in decibels, keep the limiter on to stop clipping, and preview before saving. Your files are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
How to use Volume Booster
- Choose an audio file.
- Set the volume change and press Preview to listen.
- Save the result as MP3 or WAV.
Questions people ask
How many dB should I add?
+6 dB doubles the amplitude and sounds noticeably louder. +10 dB sounds about twice as loud to most listeners. The peak readout shows how close you are to 0 dBFS.
What does the limiter do?
It stops peaks from going above about -2 dBFS. Without it, boosted peaks are cut off flat, which sounds like crackling distortion.
Can I make audio quieter?
Yes. Move the slider below 0. -6 dB halves the amplitude.
