About this tool

Voice Recorder captures audio from your microphone with a live waveform and level meter. Pause and resume as needed, listen back, and save as WebM or MP3. The recording stays on your device and is never uploaded.

How to use Voice Recorder

  1. Press “Start recording” and allow microphone access.
  2. Speak, using Pause if needed, then press Stop.
  3. Play it back and download as WebM or MP3.

Questions people ask

Why does my browser ask for permission?

Browsers need your consent before a site can use the microphone. Audio is recorded locally and never leaves your device.

What level should the meter show?

Aim for peaks around 50–80% of the bar. If it hits 100% often, move away from the microphone to avoid distortion.

Is there a time limit?

No fixed limit. A WebM (Opus) recording uses about 0.5–1 MB per minute, so long recordings are fine.
