How does X (Twitter) count characters?

A post can be 280 characters. Every link counts as 23 characters whatever its length, and most emoji and CJK characters count as 2.

Why does an SMS limit drop to 70?

Plain text messages use the GSM alphabet with 160 characters. One emoji or unsupported letter switches the whole message to Unicode, which allows only 70. Long messages split into parts of 153 or 67.

How long should a meta description be?

Google usually shows about 150 to 160 characters on desktop, measured by pixel width. Put the key point in the first 120 characters.
