Questions people ask

How do I write 1,234.45 on a cheque?

One thousand two hundred thirty-four and 45/100. Draw a line after the words so nothing can be added.

Should I write “and” after hundred?

British English usually says “one hundred and five”; American English often drops it. On US checks, “and” is used only before the cents, so turn the option off.

How large a number can it handle?

Up to 999 trillion (999,999,999,999,999), using the short scale where a billion is 1,000,000,000.
