Barcode Generator
Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 39 and ITF barcodes.
About this tool
Barcode Generator draws scannable barcodes in the most common formats. For EAN-13 and UPC-A it works out the check digit if you leave it off and tells you if a typed one is wrong, so your labels scan first time.
How to use Barcode Generator
- Choose the barcode format.
- Type the value; for EAN-13 or UPC-A you can leave off the last check digit.
- Adjust size and colours, then download PNG or SVG.
Questions people ask
How is the EAN-13 check digit calculated?
Starting from the right of the first 12 digits, multiply digits alternately by 3 and 1, add them up, and the check digit is the amount needed to reach the next multiple of 10.
Can I use these barcodes on products in shops?
The barcodes are valid, but retail numbers must be registered with GS1 so the number belongs to your company. Use your assigned GS1 number for products sold in stores.
Which format should I use?
Use Code 128 for internal labels, asset tags and shipping since it encodes letters and numbers compactly. Use EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products and ITF for cartons.
